Types of Scholars
Millikin's Honors Program introduces students to college-level scholarship, research, critical thinking, and writing during the freshman and sophomore years. Classes are taught as seminars - sessions involving intense discussion and requiring active participation. Honors Scholars are chosen based on their academic achievements, involvement in high school, and an interview/selection process.
Presidential Scholars are Millikin's best and brightest students. Selection is based upon outstanding academic performance and demonstrated leadership. Millikin's expectations are high, but Scholars' rewards are great: Presidential Scholars receive a full tuition scholarship, renewable for up to four years and must maintain a cumulative 3.5 GPA to retain the scholarship.
James Millikin Scholars
Millikin's strongest juniors are invited to join the next phase of the Honors Program to become James Millikin Scholars. All Presidential Scholars automatically become part of this group.
Today, the Honors Program comprises approximately 140 Freshman and Sophomore Honors Scholars and nearly 50 James Millikin Scholars at the junior and senior levels.
