Alumni of the Department of Theatre and Dance are working all over the world. Many have found great success in their pursuit of careers in theatre, dance, film and television while others have found exciting opportunities outside of the theatre industry. BFA Musical Theatre 1995
Currently bringing the house down 8 shows a week in her performance of Medda Larkin in the Broadway production of Newsies, LaVon is a well-seasoned Broadway performer. She made her Broadway debut understudying the role of Sophia in The Color Purple and has also been seen in Lysistrata Jones, and Chicago where she dazzled audiences with her performance of that cheeky prison matron, Mama Morton.
After graduating from Millikin, LaVon went on to earn a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Theatre from the University of Florida. She has performed extensively in regional productions of Hairspray, Hello Dolly, Once On This Island, Smokey Joe's Cafe, Beehive, A Street Car Named Desire, and Dream Girls to name a few.
