There are a number of ways to get help at the Millikin Writing Center.
You can make an appointment with a tutor. Call 217-424-6353, or email us at email@example.com and request that an appointment be set up for you with one of our writing specialists or peer tutors. Or you can stop by Library 203; if we are busy, you can fill out an appointment request form located on the door of the Writing Center.
- Write down the time and date of the appointment.
- Show up a few minutes early (especially as a first-timer; there's some paperwork to fill out).
- Don't forget to bring the professor's assignment, any course materials that might help, and your draft if you have one. You can bring a printed draft, check out a library laptop and access your document on it, or use an electronic one on a disk, or we can access your student computer account from the Writing Center, too.
If you need to see a tutor, say, like yesterday, you can always try for a rare "walk-in" appointment in Library 203. Just stroll on over and see if one of our tutors is available to see you. This is risky, however, due to our own tight schedules and our limited staff.
If you are a do-it-yourselfer or you discover that you have questions while working on your paper at 3 a.m., the Online Writing Center pages can help. There find pages and pages of information on how to improve your writing, grammar, usage, spelling, and other fun stuff. Here's a link taking you to our Writing Center Resources
