Faculty and students of the ISE work with external clients to conduct research, create products, and provide other services.

 The ISE provides high-quality deliverables to clients while giving students performance learning opportunities both on- and off-campus.

More and more projects today use multidisciplinary teams to solve problems, and the ISE serves as a conduit through which faculty-managed, student-run teams can be initiated. 

The ISE has a strong affiliation with Millikin University’s Center for Entrepreneurship and serves as a training center for students to develop skills and  to create science ventures.
