MSN Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) Track and the Nurse Educator Track?
Students interested in pursuing a career patient and systems management should choose the CNL track. Students interested in pursuing a career teaching others about nursing should choose the Nurse Educator track.

How many credit hours and practice hours does the MSN program require?
36 credit hours total, 400 practice hours

Can I be a part-time student?
The MSN may be pursued on a full-time or part-time basis. Part-time students may, with permission of the program Director or Dean, take up to 9 credits as a “student-at-large”. To continue toward degree matriculation, students-at-large must complete all application materials prior to the second semester in attendance.

Can I transfer in any credits?
A maximum of 9 credits may be transferred from another college or university into the program.

How much time is allowed to complete the MSN degree?
While the program is designed to enable students to complete their degree in 18 months, students are allowed 6 years from the date of admission to complete the MSN.

What exams will I be eligible to sit for upon completion of my MSN degree?
Graduates will be eligible to sit for national certification examinations in either area of concentration. Graduates are not prepared as Advanced Practice Nurses (APN) and will not eligible for APN licensure.

Is financial aid available?
