Stay connected with the Career Center
It's been a busy semester in the Career Center with events including an etiquette dinner, consortium career fair, alternative service-focused spring break, job search workshops and more. Students are preparing for summer jobs and internships, and that oh so important life after graduation.  To assist with these efforts, the Career Center has posted several job and internship opportunities and supported students through individual appointments and workshops on topics including resumes, getting the most out of an internship, and professional dress.

In addition, we recently celebrated being honored with the President’s Honor Roll for service, by documenting 147,656 service hours for the previous academic year.  Service and career engagement have been key hallmarks of this semester’s activities.  Still to come before the semester is out we will host a special virtual presentation focused on salary negotiation in partnership with the Panhellenic Council.   As the spring semester comes to a close, remind your student to stay connected with the Career Center, our services our still available during the summer months and it can be a great time to update one’s resume and plan for upcoming career-related opportunities.

Congratulations 2013-2014 First Year Experience Mentors
This past year we had over 70 student leaders eligible to be a part of the First Year Experience Mentor role with 36 students being selected for this prestigious leadership experience. As a para-professional on campus the FYEM program strives to have a positive impact during the development of a student’s first year through being the first to represent the mission and values of Millikin University, to engage others in the campus community, and to support the transition of first year students coming to our community. Over the upcoming academic year these 36 student leaders will work with traditional, transfer, commuter, and international students in assisting with transition in their first year at Millikin University. Additionally, they will be at Orientation and Registration to partner with our parents and families to answer any questions they or the first year student may have. See below for a list of our FYEMs
