Decatur Branch Loyalty Award

April 28th, 2007

(The Loyalty Award is a new honor given this year at the state level of AAUW to take the place of the Spirit and Emerging Star Awards.  It will be printed in the Convention Booklet which will be received at the Regional/State Convention in June in Illinois .)

The awardee for 2007 is Virginia McQuistion.

Virginia McQuistion joined the branch in the 1970's and has been a faithful member of the Antique Study Group as well as Co-Chair of the group. For a few years she was Faculty Advisor to a Millikin student who did the branch newsletter. Virginia also has an interest in the International Affairs of women and girls and has helped plan branch programming on that topic. This year when the featured speaker (Millikin Faculty) from Calcutta was unable to fly to Decatur from India, Virginia spoke eloquently on women's issues in India. Branch members expressed their appreciation for her presentation.
