||Sidney Davis ('14) is one of a small handful of singers selected to join
NY singer, actor, teacher and author, Sheri Sanders in a unique, hybrid
performance that will blend rock concert with master class.
Sheri Sanders' Rock The Audition vocal technique and accompanying book, Rock the Audition: How to Prepare For and Get Cast In Rock Musicals have
taken New York by storm and are quickly becoming the industry standard.
Recognizing the emerging trends in contemporary musical theatre, the
Department of Theatre and Dance invited Sheri to Millikin to conduct two
separate residencies in this ground-breaking technique. Students
participated in a number of intensive workshops learning to select, cut,
style and perform pop/rock songs for musical theatre auditions.
Millikin also became the first university to undergo the Rock The Audition Teacher Training Program, preparing members of the Theatre and Dance and School of Music faculty to teach Sheri's technique.
The relationship Sidney built with Sheri Sanders during these unique
residencies led to her being cast in this exciting concert event to be
held at the American Theatre of Actors in New York City on September
26th. Sidney will be performing the iconic disco classic, Don't Leave Me This Way by Thelma Houston. The Department of Theatre and Dance congratulates Sidney on this impressive achievement.
