Pipe Dreams Studio Theatre concludes a successful season with the world premier of Paul Shoulberg's Cracker, directed by Assistant Professor, Tom Robson.

--In a suburb known for its ever-increasing gang violence, Les Colton and his group of “white cracker” friends will do anything to fit in. Mothered by an alcoholic, Les’s only solitude is found in his African-American friend and artist, Blue. Les has his world soon thrown into chaos when his brother, Ray, is released from jail returning with a vengeance. A gripping tale of discovery, Cracker explores issues of race, violence, stereotyping, love, and questions how hard would you fight for what you believe in.

Cracker runs through April 28th at Pipe Dreams Studio Theatre in Decatur.  For more information, visit the Pipe Dreams website at www.pdtheatre.com

MU Alum, Andrew Purcell ('12) will be appearing as Diesel in the International Tour of West Side Story.  In addition to playing Diesel, Andrew will be understudying the iconic role of Riff, leader of the Jets. The original Jerome Robbins choreography will be recreated by Broadway choreographer, Joey McKneely.

The relationship Andrew built with casting director, Stuart Howard, as a direct result of our annual New York Showcase trip led to this exciting opportunity.  Andrew recently completed a contract as a principal singer/dancer on Norwegian Cruise Line's Pride of America where he toured the Hawaiian Islands.  He is represented by the Judy Boals agency in New York City.  Congratulations to Andrew!!!

Jeremy Blair ('06) former company member of Thodos Dance Chicago and currently pursuing his MFA in Dance at University of Iowa, returns to MU for a unique dance residency.

Millikin alum, Jeremy Blair (’06), has been on campus this week for an exciting residency in dance.  For five years, Jeremy was a member of the contemporary dance company, Thodos Dance Chicago (TDC).  During his tenure with the company he performed in concerts nationally and internationally and also choreographed a number of works that are now part of the TDC permanent repertoire.  Last week, Jeremy began setting a piece of his choreography on our student dancers and on Saturday evening, our students will perform the piece, entitled Reflections, in the Thodos Dance Chicago concert at Kirkland Fine Arts Center.  Reflections originally premiered at the internationally acclaimed Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival in Becket, Massachusetts.

This residency offers our dancers a rare opportunity to work with an internationally acclaimed dance company right here on campus.  These seven students (plus two understudies) will become members of the TDC company for the weekend, spending time taking company class, rehearsing, dining, and performing with this group of professional dancers.  They will build professional relationships with these accomplished artists and will experience what it’s like to be part of an established dance company.  Millikin Blue will burn brightly this weekend as one of our own returns to campus to share his professional work with our students and the community.

 The cast of Reflections includes:
 Lexis Danca
  Andy Frank
 Keila Hamed-Ramos

Elliot Marach
 Mackenzie McAlindon
  Justin Ostergard
 Elena Romanowski

 Understudies:
 Alex Buchko
   David Triptow
