AUDITIONS & INTERVIEWS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR THE FOLLOWING BFA PROGRAMS:
Acting, Musical Theatre, Stage Management, Theatre Administration and Design & Production
Performance auditions will take place in two sessions, morning and afternoon. Stage Management, Theatre Administration and Design & Production interviews can be scheduled throughout the day.

Audition Requirements
Musical Theatre
• One memorized contemporary (written since 1960) monologue from a published play or
musical, 30-45 seconds in length. The character should be close to your own age and
performed without a regional dialect.
• Two memorized songs (one written before 1970, one after 1970) from published Broadway
literature and contrasting in style, i.e. up-tempo and ballad. (No Jason Robert Brown,
Stephen Sondheim, or Adam Guettel.) Select 16 bars for the ballad and 32 bars for the up-
tempo. Please bring sheet music in the proper key—no recorded music will be permitted.
An accompanist will be provided. (Note: although you will choose only 16-32 bars for your
audition, please be prepared to sing the entire song if requested.)
• A brief ballet combination will be taught on-site and performed to assess your potential
dance abilities.
Acting
• Two memorized monologues, each 30-45 seconds in length. Material should be from
published plays, contrasting in period and/or style, with a character close to your own age,
and performed without a regional dialect. Shakespeare is acceptable for one of the acting
monologues; however, no Puck monologues from A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be
permitted.

Interview Information
Stage Management Interview
• Bring prompt books or any other documentation of your management experience.
• Provide two recent letters of recommendation.
• Be prepared to discuss your previous experience in leadership, having authority, managing
groups of people, collaborating on projects with adults, and organizational and time
management skills.
Theatre Administration Interview
• Bring examples or documentation to demonstrate your previous experiences in theatre.
• Provide two recent letters of recommendation.
• Be prepared to discuss your previous experiences in leadership, governance, management,
sales, public relations, organizing and promoting events, writing, public speaking or graphic
design.
Design & Production Interview
• Bring a design portfolio (either traditional or digital) with examples of your work. If you are
bringing a digital portfolio, bring a means of playing it.
• This portfolio can include theatrical design, construction, management, running paperwork,
etc. You may also include other artistic work, photography, or other endeavors which
show us your artistic eye and sense of design.
• Small props, costumes, or models are also appropriate items to show as part of your
portfolio presentation.
• Be prepared to discuss design aesthetic, collaboration, and the role of design within the
theatrical experience.
