Millikin University's Voice Department prepares students for professional success through coursework and practical experience. Students have opportunities to perform in vocal ensembles, solo and group recitals, musicals, operas, study abroad programs, and many more.

Millikin's Opera Theatre Program, showcases a unique training program for undergraduate singers and produces several operas throughout the year. The academic Opera Workshop program contains Acting, Movement and Production elements, with a required progression from Freshman year through Upper Class sections, with every enrolled student performing regularly as part of class and/or Opera Theatre productions.

Aimed toward a young audience, the annual Fall Opera is performed in conjunction with the full Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra, and is staged at Kirkland Fine Arts Center.  The Spring MainStage Opera is a full-length production held in the newly renovated Albert Taylor Theatre every other year. The third Opera is usually a baroque or contemporary one-act piece, produced in Kaeuper Hall in the late Spring.
