Title of Web Quest: “Drugs and Their Effects on Our Bodies” 

Description of Web Quest: This WebQuest will focus on drug use. Learning about different types of drugs and how it can affect ourhealth. 

Illinois Learning Standards and Goals:

State Goal 22: Understands principles of health promotion and the prevention and treatment of illness and injury.

22. A 3a: Identify and describe ways to reduce health risks common to adolescents (e.g., exercise, diet, refusal of harmful substances)

NETS:

Introduction

The FDA has randomly selected our school, among others, to help get students involved in taking the proper steps to creating a healthier lifestyle. Each school will be competing to present their information in frontof the First Lady of the United States, as well as, the President of the FDA.  

Task

You will be creating an informational packet on a drug ofchoice. The pamphlet should include the history of the drug, how the drug affects the body/brain, and also some statics about the drug. Keep in mind that this pamphlet is for all ages, so keep it fun and keep it interesting.

Process:

Historian:

This person will find the history of the drug of choice.This will include when it was first present and used and why it was used.

Researcher:

This person will be researching the drug of choice. This will include what chemicals are used, the affects the drug has on the brain/body, and any other useful information for that drug.

Designer:

This person will be in charge of putting the information together in a pamphlet. This pamphlet should include all the information research and found on the drug, you may also use graphics. This should be practical, functional, and professional.

Conclusion

This WebQuest was designed for students to learn about drug abuse and how it effects the body. They learn about the information by going out and doing their own research. In the process they also learn to work together with their peers and create a pamphlet that anyone can use to learn about drug abuse.
