Site: The William Dean Howells Society
Web Author: Donna Campbell
URL: http://www.gonzaga.edu/howells
The Howells Society site hosts the largest collection of Howells texts available on the web, many of which have been generously donated by Eric Eldred of Eldritch Press. In addition, it contains many other original materials pertaining to Howells, including images, links, book reviews, queries, a Howells chronology, the archives of the Howells-L e-mail discussion list, and commentary from Howells-L members. Highlights include an annotated bibliography of recent Howells criticism, which is contributed by Howells-L members, lists of recommended works, and information about and links to sites on Howells's contemporaries, some of whom are not elsewhere represented on the web: Harold Frederic, Frank Norris, Charles Gilman Norris, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Theodore Dreiser, Henry James, Constance Fenimore Woolson, Mary N. Murfree, and Charles W. Chesnutt. The site is fully searchable and is available in both frames and non-frames versions.
