Site: Zora Neale Hurston
Web Author: Kip Austin Hinton
URL: http://i.am/zora
This site exemplifies what is great about the Internet and author sites an independent fan can put together such great work. The author is Kip Austin Hinton, and he has gathered an incredible collection of photos (some of which I had never seen elsewhere before), essays about Hurston, links to other resources about Hurston, a bibliography of her works, a chronology, bibliography of works about Hurston, as well as official points of contact for more information on Hurston’s estate. Easy to navigate and attractive; the site also includes warnings about student honesty and a FAQ page on how to ask good questions about Hurston. Includes a bulletin board where interested parties can post questions on Hurston as well as answers. One of my personal favorite essays is Hinton’s essay on his trip to Hurston’s grave, mostly because of the excellent photos included there. A must visit for anyone doing research on Hurston; also includes useful links to other authors of the time period.
