Site: The Life and Works of Herman Melville
Web Author: Melville Society
URL: http://www.melville.org/melville.htm
Sponsored by the Melville Society, this site is growing slowly and is primarily focused on Moby-Dick at this point. There are links to Melville works on-line (not complete, by any means, and many are gopher texts), biographies, and excerpts from contemporary reviews of most of the works. Most valuable for first-time readers of Moby-Dick is the on-line Companion Reader by Robert A. diCurcio, "Nantucket's Tried-Out Moby-Dick." It's a start, and in time perhaps there will be more posted related to other Melville works.
