Site: The Thoreau Home Page
Web Author: Thoreau Society
URL: http://www.walden.org/thoreau/
This searchable site, sponsored by the Thoreau Institute at Walden Woods, is fast becoming the essential Thoreau site, with the goal of posting "everything, and we really do mean everything, by and about Thoreau, from his published texts and currently unpublished manuscripts, to historical and contemporary images and maps of locations he visited. We will also provide data on Thoreau’s contemporaries, his times, books and articles he read, the community in which he lived, and so on." As of Spring 2000, the structure is there, with most of Thoreau's works posted, but some sections, such as scholarship, are quite skimpy. For example, Thoreau's Journals are posted, but only from 1855 until 1861. The associated links are extensive.
