An avid supporter of fine arts and athletics at Millikin, Howard
Nyberg initiated the idea of a post-game football party for alumni,
parents and friends in the Chicago area. He sponsored the party for
more than 15 years in addition to supporting other Millikin Club of
Chicago activities. It is in his fond memory that the party
continues to be held each year.
A long-time alumni
volunteer, Nyberg was named Alumnus of the Year in 1990, and his
list of alumni activities included the volunteer admission counselor
program, SummerView, phonathons and the Alumni Association board of
directors, for which he served as president in 1963. His gift to
form a permanent endowment makes possible the Nyberg Faculty
Development Seminar.
Nyberg, a resident of
Riverside, Ill., retired as founder and president of Vector Corp, in
Oakbrook, Ill., in 1988 after years working in development
consulting and international exports.
