Oct. 17-19:
Come on
home to the Big Blue for Homecoming 2003! All alumni are
welcome to attend, and reunion gatherings will be held for the
following classes: 1938, 1943, 1948, 1953, 1958, 1963, 1968,
1973, 1978, 1983, 1988, 1993 and 1998. Reunions for
black alumni and the '77, '78 and '79 CCIW championship
football teams will also be held.

some BASEBALL? 
Aug. 9: This year's Millikin
Day at Busch Stadium will be held Saturday, Aug. 9, as the St.
Louis Cardinals take on the Atlanta Braves
at 12:20 p.m. All fans age 15 and under will receive a team
poster featuring the 2003 Cardinals. Tickets are in Section
342 and
cost $18 each.

Hold
the date for Millikin Day at Wrigley Field as the Chicago

10: Annual Family Picnic and New Student Send-Off Party. St.
Louis area alumni, current students, and their families and
friends are invited to "send off" new students who
will enter Millikin this fall. Join us for a family picnic at
1 p.m. in Wood River, Ill., at Belk

Walk, an event featuring inspiring art, good food and old

A 1966 ALUM,
IS MILLIKIN'S NEW PRESIDENT.
The Millikin board of
trustees announced this afternoon that Douglas E. Zemke,
a former dean of the Tabor School of Business and a former
Millikin trustee, has been named the University's new president. A
news conference to make the announcement was held at 2 p.m.

SCHOOL OF NURSING RECEIVES
A NEW ACCREDITATION.
The Millikin University
School of Nursing has gained full accreditation from the
Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The CCNE is
an accrediting agency that ensures the quality and integrity
of baccalaureate and graduate education programs. MORE

Students and alums
worked together this spring to collect items for a local food
pantry in celebration of Millikin's Founders' Day. MORE

DECATUR CELEBRATION PARADE.
James and
Anna Millikin, Millikin's founder and his wife, will be
the grand marshals for this year's Decatur
Celebration parade. The Celebration, held Aug. 1-3, is
Illinois' largest free family street festival. The Millikins,
aka dean emeritus Gerald Redford and his wife, Barbara,
retired media relations coordinator, will ride in period
attire in a horse-drawn carriage in the parade, which begins
at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 2. Other Big Blue attractions are a
performance by the Millikin Faculty Jazz Group on Friday evening,
and Millikin employees will sell monster cookies all weekend
out of a booth built to look like Shilling Hall -- complete
with clock tower!
YOUR TICKET COULD GET THEM
OUT DANCING ON THE FIELD.
The Millikin Pom Squad has been invited to perform at the
Sept. 10 St. Louis Cardinals baseball game at Busch Stadium.
To be eligible to perform, the 18-member squad must sell 200 tickets by
Aug. 15. "We
will dance a pre-game show in the courtyard, and the
squad that sells the most tickets will also dance on the
field!" says
Co-Captain Katherine Wilson.
Tickets are located in the Terrace Reserved section
and cost $18 each. The Cardinals take on the
Colorado Rockies at 7:10 p.m. To
