home to the Big Blue for Homecoming 2003! All alumni are
welcome to attend, and reunion gatherings will be held for the
following classes: 1938, 1943, 1948, 1953, 1958, 1963, 1968,
1973, 1978, 1983, 1988, 1993 and 1998. A reunion gathering for
black alumni will also be held.

A
COMMENCEMENT RIGHT
OUT OF THE HISTORY BOOK
More than 430
undergraduates and 28 MBA candidates received their degrees
during Millikin's 100th annual commencement ceremony, held May
18 at the Decatur Civic Center. The ceremony continued the
university's Centennial Celebration as Vice President for
Academic Affairs Steve Fiol read passages from historic
Millikin speeches, including excerpts of the dedication
address given by President Theodore Roosevelt on June 4, 1903.
Earlier in the day, William Bodamer, the retiring director of
Pilling Chapel, gave the baccalaureate address.
TWO MU PROFS TO
SERVE AS DEANS.
Dr. Ralph Czerwinski, professor of mathematical
and computer sciences, has been named dean for the College of
Arts & Sciences. MORE
In addition, Dr. James Dahl, associate professor
of management and Distinguished University Studies Professor,
has been named acting dean for the Tabor School of Business.
NINE NAMED TO MEDALLION SOCIETY.
Eight individuals representing more than 235 years of service
to Millikin were recently named the newest members of
Millikin’s Medallion Society. MORE
A ninth professor was also named to the Society in a ceremony

2003-04 KIRKLAND
SERIES ANNOUNCED.
The
Grammy-nominated country trio SHeDAISY opens the 2003-2004
Kirkland Visiting Artist Series on Aug. 20, one of 17 events
scheduled for the year. MORE

PACE PICKS UP.
Students with some
college credits can now finish college and earn an
elementary education degree and teaching certification through
PACE, the university’s evening completion program. And
beginning this fall: a Nursing RN to BSN adult program. MORE

RECEIVE TEACHING AWARDS.
Professors Sharon Alpi and Dr. Linda Schinke-Llano
received teaching awards during the spring Honors Convocation
program. Schinke-Llano retired at the end of spring semester
and was named professor emeritus by the board of trustees. MORE
