A
day of service
Millikin
University’s local alumni and friends and their families are invited to
participate in a special service project with the Decatur Boys and Girls Club
from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, May 1, on the Millikin campus. The event is
cosponsored by the Millikin University Alumni Association and the student-alumni
group, Milli-STAT (Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow) and is held in conjunction
with Millikin’s annual Founder’s Day celebration.
Sixty
youth ages 7 -17 from the Boys and Girls Club are scheduled to come to campus
that afternoon to participate in activities specially planned by Millikin
student organizations, including games, relays, sports activities, crafts,
refreshments and more.
Alumni
and friends and their families can both assist and enjoy the fun. Adults are
needed as volunteer assistants to work with Millikin students in charge of the
various activities, and children age 7-17 are invited to join in activities with
the youth from the Boys and Girls Club.
“We
ask our alumni and friends to help us serve our community to make a day of fun
for others –including their own families,” says Jeff Jamison '83, president
of Millikin’s Alumni Association. “We look forward to them joining us for
this special May Day activity."
All participants should report to the patio area north of Richards Treat
University Center at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 1. Guest parking will be available
in the parking lot just north of Mills Hall.
Alumni
who live in other parts of the country are encouraged to participate in this
Millikin Day of Service by volunteering to work with the youth in their
area.
