NURSING MAKES MAJOR NEWS.
In response to the nationwide nursing shortage, Millikin has added a new master's degree in nursing major. Prospective students can learn more at informational meetings about the new program on Feb. 23 and March 1 at 5 p.m. in room 108 of Millikin's Leighty-Tabor Science Center. MORE

Dr. Timothy Johnson, the medical editor of ABC's popular news program, "Good Morning America," is the 2006 T.W. Samuels lecturer. Johnson, who also is on-air medical correspondent for ABC's "World News Tonight," "Nightline" and "20/20," will speak Tuesday, April 4, at 8 p.m. in Kirkland Fine Arts Center. TELL THEM I DIDN'T CRY.
Jenny Spinner '92 (on right) and her twin sister, Jackie Spinner, collaborated on Jackie's new book, "Tell Them I Didn't Cry," about Jackie's experiences as a Washington Post journalist stationed in war-torn Iraq. At the end of each chapter, Jenny, an English professor at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, gives the home front perspective, describing her concern for her sister's safety. On March 6 at 7 p.m. in Kirkland Fine Arts Center, the Spinner sisters will read excerpts from the book and answer questions. A recption and book signing will follow. MOORE THAN MEETS THE EYE.
Join Ed Walker '85, chair of the art department, and Jeff Lilly '98 for the annual James W. Moore Lecture on Friday, March 10, at 6 p.m. in Perkinson Gallery, Kirkland Fine Arts Center. The two will discuss the life and work of the late Robert Root, a respected painter who lived in Shelbyville, Ill., but was relatively unknown on the national scene. Walker and Lilly, a Shelbyville native, worked together to catalogue and gather the under-appreciated artist's works for an exhibit that will be featured in Perkinson Gallery from March 10-31. Both the lecture and the exhibit are free and open to the public.

Chicago and St. Louis area alums each have the opportunity to hear Millikin's award-winning vocal jazz ensemble, OneVoice, perform at free alumni gatherings in their areas.
