As you make your plans for charitable donations this season, consider Millikin as one of your giving options. It's especially easy and secure to give online. Gifts must be submitted online or postmarked by Dec. 31, 2006, to be eligible for 2006 tax year deductions. This year, a new IRA rollover provision signed into law Aug.17 provides tax incentives for donors age 70½ or older to contribute individual retirement account assets to educational institutions and other nonprofits without having to cash out the IRA and treat the proceeds as income. BRING THE VESPERS
TRADITION HOME.
Blue Connection, Millikin’s student-run art gallery, is offering a 2006 limited edition Vespers ornament. The etched glass ornament with a gold ribbon hanger showcases this year's Millikin Vespers Concert theme, "Tidings of Great Joy" and was designed by senior James Butts. It comes packaged in a draw-string Millikin-blue velvet bag with an accompanying clear-top gift box and makes a great gift for those who celebrate the tradition of Vespers and for any family member or friend who enjoys the spirit of the holidays. The cost is $15, and it may be purchased online at www.millikinblue.com. The ornament is just one of many gallery items available for online purchase, including paintings, jewelry, photographs and stationary. Who knows? You might be able to get all your holiday shopping done with just a few mouse clicks.

'TIS THE SEASON ...
TO MENTION MILLIKIN
The holidays are a time for gathering with friends and family and asking age-old questions like, "Have you decided where you're going to college next fall, Johnny?" Ask the teens in your family to consider visiting Millikin so they can check out our friendly campus, one-on-one attention to students and high success rates after graduation. Be sure to share that there's no application fee and online applications can be submitted at any time. Just remember www.millikin.edu and you'll point them in the right direction.
YOU'LL EAT THIS UP.
The fall issue of Millikin Quarterly, which will be arriving in your mailboxes shortly, features a cover story on some of the wonderful -- and not so wonderful -- memories that alumni have about their dining experiences as students. In keeping with that theme, we feature a trivia question that may get your mouth watering for the taste of a local favorite.
Some alumni feel that a trip back to visit campus isn't complete without a burger from this local hangout, which is located just a few steps from campus and still going strong after 73 years in business. What is it?
A. Ed's
B. Lock Stock & Barrel
C. The Winery
