Chicago - Join the Millikin Club of Chicago for the annual family picnic and new student send-off party from 1-3 p.m. at the large pavilion in Salt Creek Forest Preserve in Wood Dale, Ill. Saturday, Aug. 4
On campus - Jazz band alumni who played under the direction of the late Roger Schueler, director of the Millikin Jazz Band from 1964 to 1986, are invited to a reunion in lower Richards Treat University Center, hosted by John Bingham '70 and Alma Welch Schueler '67. Cocktail hour is 5:30-6:30 p.m., with dinner and a tribute to Mr. Schueler following. Cost is $25 per person and a cash bar will be available. A block of rooms is on reserve at the Decatur Conference Center (formerly the Holiday Inn) for Aug. 3 and 4. The rate is $79 per night. To reserve a room, contact the Decatur Conference Center toll free at 1-866-452-7510 (locally, dial 472-4149). Deadline for reservations is July 23.

Chicago's Grant Park- Millikin hosts an alumni and friends event at the Chicago Distance Classic, a half-marathon and 5K race organized by running expert John "The Penguin" Bingham '70. On campus - The Millikin Symphonic Band will perform a patriotic tribute concert, “An American Salute” in the Kirkland Fine Arts Center at 2 p.m. Col. Thomas Rotondi Jr. ''74, leader and commander of the U.S. Army Band, “Pershing’s Own,” is guest conductor. Rotondi will receive a 2007 Alumni Merit Award this fall during his visit to campus.

SCHOOL OF NURSING
GETS NATIONAL ATTENTION.
Faculty members for Millikin's master's degree in nursing program presented a nationally aired teleconference through the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). MORE

In addition, Millikin nursing students were featured in the new issue of The Nation's Health, the national newsletter of the American Public Health Association. The students teamed up with the Macon County Health Department to offer health screenings during National Public Health Week in April.

In the meantime, mark your calendar for Oct. 5-7 and make note to periodically check the homecoming website where new info will be posted as it becomes available. MILLIKIN CELEBRATES
A RECORD-SETTING YEAR.
Millikin is celebrating the recent conclusion of a record-setting year of fundraising, with more than $2.4 million donated from alumni, parents and friends in support of the university. MORE

LAST CALL FOR THE REDBIRDS!
Only 14 tickets remain for Millikin Day at Busch Stadium, St. Louis, on Sunday, Aug. 12, as the St. Louis Cardinals take on the LA Dodgers at 1:15 p.m. The seats are in section 259 with access to the air-conditioned Bank of America Clubhouse. Tickets include an all-you-can-eat buffet, plus free beverages of the adult and non-adult variety. Cost is $90 per person. Call toll free to 1-877-JMU-ALUM to reserve your tickets.

Decatur-area alums: Want to leave the driving to us? A bus will leave from Fairview parking lot (next to Westminster Presbyterian Church across from campus) at 9 a.m. for the game. The cost is $20 round trip and includes snacks. Call 1-877-JMU-ALUM for more details.
