Decatur - Penguin in the Park 5K run and one-mile, non-competitive walk. Start-time is at 9 a.m.
A 10:30 a.m. awards ceremony will feature running expert and motivational speaker John Bingham '70 of Runner's World magazine. Other highlights include a post-race party in Richards Treat University Center. Alumni, students, faculty and staff receive a discount if they register by March 17. For complete details, click here.

On campus - The annual spring phonathon. Campus callers will be phoning alumni and friends to ask for donations to the Millikin Fund. Don't forget to take the ADM Challenge and receive a free latte! On campus - The Dance Company of Middlebury, directed by Andrea Olsen '70, performs "Tribute," in memory of Andrea's mother, Challys Hamman Olsen '40, in Albert Taylor Theatre at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Each performance is free and open to the public. MORE

Thursday, March 29
Decatur - Join the Millikin CIA (Central Illinois Alumni) for a wine-tasting party from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Millikin Homestead. Kevin Graham '76, Millikin's director of counseling services and co-owner of The Decanter, a Decatur wine shop, will share his expertise on wines. Hors d'oeuvres will be served. East Alton, Ill. - Jazz ensemble Rebirth of Cool, directed by John Stafford '00, adjunct assistant professor of music, performs at East Alton First United Methodist Church, 1001 Third St., at 6 p.m. A free will offering will be taken to benefit the church's youth camping ministry. All are welcome.
April 2-4
Central and Northern Illinois - The Millikin Wind Ensemble performs at several high schools during a spring tour:
Monday, April 2, at 1:25 p.m. at Bloomington High; two performances Tuesday, April 3, at 9:20 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. at Schaumburg High and one performance at 12:50 p.m. at Glenbard South High; Wednesday, April 4, at 8:30 a.m. at Glenbard North High in Carol Stream, Ill.; and 11:30 a.m. at Lincoln Way Central High in New Lenox, Ill. All concerts are open to alumni, parents and friends.

Saturday, May 5
On campus - Join the Millikin CIA (Central Illinois Alumni) for the Millikin Theatre and Dance production of "A Chorus Line" at the Kirkland Fine Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Come early for "One Singular Sensation," a pre-theatre party hosted by MCIA members, in Kirkland's band room (K136). Cost is $30 per person and includes pre-party admission and a theatre ticket. Ticket packages available through the Kirkland Box Office at 217-424-6318.

Chicago's Grant Park- Millikin will hold an alumni and friends event in a tent at the Chicago Distance Classic, a half-marathon and 5K race organized by running expert John "The Penguin" Bingham '70. BRADY TO PERFORM AT GOODHEART EVENT.
Nationally known comedian-actor Wayne Brady, best known for his work on television shows such as “Whose Line is it Anyway?” and “Chappell’s Show,” will headline the 2007 Goodheart Event, on Wednesday, March 28, at 7:30 p.m. in Kirkland Fine Arts Center.

A WHALE OF A TALE.
Well, not really a whale, but rather a mermaid. Disney Theatrical Productions recently announced Sierra Boggess '04 will originate the role of Ariel in the Broadway production of "The Little Mermaid." As such, Boggess is keeping Millikin as the official college home of Ariel, following in the tradition of the original voice of the animated Little Mermaid, Jodi Marzorati Benson '83, who is also a Millikin graduate. RE-ACCREDITATION RECOMMENDED.
Following last week's visit by the NCA Higher Learning Commission (HLC) re-accreditation evaluation team, President Doug Zemke '66 announced the team intends to recommend re-accreditation for Millikin for the next 10 years. During Wednesday's exit session, the chair of the evaluation committee said it is clear that the Millikin mission is alive on our campus and that we have a bright future ahead.

Three of the top School of Music students will compete for the prestigious Hollis Prize during a recital on Saturday, March 31, at 7:30 p.m. in Kaeuper Hall in Perkinson Music Center on campus. The recital is free and open to the public. MORE
