Jazz band alumni who played under the direction of the late Roger Schueler, director of the Millikin Jazz Band from 1964 to 1986, are invited to a reunion in lower Richards Treat University Center, hosted by John Bingham '70 and Alma Welch Schueler '67. Cocktail hour is 5:30-6:30 p.m., with dinner and a tribute to Dr. Schueler following. Cost is $30 per person and a cash bar will be available. Graduation cap and diplomaDr. Allen P. Splete, president emeritus of the Council of Independent Colleges, will deliver the commencement address and receive an honorary degree during Millikin's spring commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 20, at 2 p.m. at the Decatur Civic Center. MORE

Bruce Nims '72, entrepreneur-in-residence for Millikin’s Tabor School of Business, will address graduates of Millikin’s PACE and MBA programs during the spring commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 19, at 7 p.m. in Kirkland Fine Arts Center. MORE

Even if you don't own or aspire to own your own business, you'll want to catch the spirit of this year's annual Chicago Business Forum and Networking Luncheon focusing on how entrepreneurship skills can help you advance in any career. This May 24 event, open to alumni and friends of the university and held at downtown Chicago's Union League Club, features a panel of three alumni business experts -- Lou "Mr. Fix-It" Manfredini '87, Nike Smyth Whitcomb '66 and Mikel Briggs '79 -- moderated by Bruce Nims '72. Deadline to R.S.V.P. is Friday, May 18. MORE

The adult criminal justice program will start a new group of students in the program with its new online course beginning July 9. MORE

A group of students gained international business experience while conducting a consulting project for a New Zealand company. MORE

GO TO THE HEAD OF THE LINE.
Kirkland Fine Arts Center will announce their 2007-08 season later this month, but Kirkland e-mail patrons will have a special opportunity to buy tickets for next season’s shows before they go on sale to the general public. MORE

LET'S GET MUSICAL.
The School of Music is offering summer workshops for music teachers to help them apply recent developments in music technology to their classes. MORE

CALLING ALL CARDINALS FANS!
Tickets to Busch Stadium, home of the 2006 World Series Champs, are hard to get, but don't worry. We've got 'em. Bring your friends and join us for Millikin Day at Busch Stadium, Sunday, Aug. 12, as the St. Louis Cardinals take on the LA Dodgers at 1:15 p.m. The seats are in section 259 with access to the air-conditioned Bank of America Clubhouse. Tickets include an all-you-can-eat buffet, plus free beverages of the adult and non-adult variety. Cost is $90 per person. Less than 100 tickets are available, so call soon! JUST ADDED: A chartered bus will leave from the Fairview parking lot (next to Westminster Presbyterian Church) at 9 a.m. for the game. The cost is $20 round trip and includes snacks. Call 1-877-JMU-ALUM for more details.

Come share your Big Blue spirit at Homecoming 2007, "Finding the True Blue in You," Oct. 5-7. More than 40 events are already schedule, including reunions for classes ending in 2 or 7. Complete schedules will be mailed to all alumni this summer.

Marc Smith, assistant coach for the Big Blue from 1998 to 2002, returns to Millikin to serve as men's basketball head coach after five years as head coach at Keystone College in La Plume, Penn. MORE

YOU DESERVE A LATTE.
Alumni and friends of the university who make a new or upgraded donation to the Millikin Fund to support the university's annual operating budget each receive a coupon for a complimentary latte from the campus coffee shop, Common Grounds. MORE
