Arts & Entrepreneurship Program receives high honors.

Millikin’s Arts & Entrepreneurship Program received the 2013 Outstanding Specialty Entrepreneurship Program Award by the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE). The award recognizes high-quality and innovative programs with the purpose of educating future generations of entrepreneurs in special areas.

Need a mentor? Be a mentor.

So far, 54 alumni have joined our Mentoring Network, and we'd like to add your name to the list! The network assists students and alumni in finding mentors who can advise and support them in their professional development.

Mentors may offer one or more of the following avenues of assistance: graduate school information and advice, leads to internship and jobs, practice interviews, resume critiques, job-shadowing and networking opportunities. Just follow the link above for more information, or to sign up.

CareerFest 2013 scheduled at North Central.

Update your resume and get ready – here’s a great chance to network with several companies in one location. Warm up with chili at LSB!

Decatur-area alums: The Alumni Association invites you to enjoy an all-you-can-eat chili bar at Lock Stock & Barrel, Saturday, Feb. 2, from noon-1:30 p.m.Cost for the meal is $5.50 per person and includes soft drinks.Pay at LSB, but RSVP to the alumni office by calling 217-424-6383 or emailing alumnews@millikin.edu so we have enough seats reserved.

Afterward, join us in cheering for Big Blue basketball:

The women’s basketball game is a Pink Zone event to support the “Come Together, Let’s Walk” initiative to fight ovarian, breast and cervical cancer. There will be a silent auction and contributions will be accepted.

Both games vs. North Park in Griswold Physical Education Center. Your Alumni Association card provides free admission to both games.

Indy-area alums: Catch the Pacers in action.

What's better than watching an NBA game from the comfort of your home? How about watching the action live with fellow MU alums? Join Indy-area Millikin alums Friday, March 22, as the Indiana Pacers take on the Milwaukee Bucks. Game time is 7 p.m. at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse Arena in Indianapolis. Club-level seats in section 113 have been reserved just for us, and tickets are specially priced at $42 per person (regularly $80)!

Plan now to jazz up your spring!

Help celebrate 50 years of jazz at Millikin on Saturday, April 13. All alumni who have participated in MU’s jazz program are invited to the celebration, which begins with lunch at noon, followed by a Jazz Band rehearsal (for those still actively playing) from 1:30-3:30 p.m., and a commemorative concert at 7:30 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church. The concert will feature One Voice, Jazz Band I and alumni jazz members.Then cap off the evening with a reception at the alumni and development center.
