Trustee to address grads at winter commencement

MU Trustee Kevin Breheny will speak at the 2011 Winter Commencement ceremony Sunday, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m. at Kirkland Fine Arts Center. More than 100 students are expected to participate in the ceremony.

Big Blue basketball season openers feature special attractions

They received a leather MU coaster for correctly knowing that the material originally used to insulate the music conservatory building was seaweed.

Stephen Fiol, former dean of the College of Fine Arts, along with the late C.D. "Perk" and Pat Perkinson '45 examine the seaweed insulation removed during the renovation and expansion of the School of Music building in 1998. The facility was renamed Perkinson Music Center in honor of the Perkinsons after the couple gifted $8 million in support of the building project and its endowment.
