Trivia Time: Crowning the queen.

Thanks to Dona Morine Burwell '49 for submitting the news clipping that led to this month's trivia question:
Homecoming 1947 saw a big-name orchestra play for the annual dance. The leader of that nationally known band was given the honor of choosing that year’s homecoming queen.

Who was the band leader who selected Patsy Shumate Lumm ‘48 as homecoming queen from the candidates shown in the photo below?

1947 Homecoming

My mother Patsy Shumate Lumm was crowned Homecoming Queen by Jimmy Dorsey, I believe. I really enjoy seeing this picture. Her granddaughter now attends Millikin and also enjoyed seeing this picture. She passed away in March of 2009.
