Millikin’s first doctoral program, the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), will be launched during the 2013-14 academic year, with the first DNP students beginning classes next January.

Applications for track 1 of the program (nurse anesthesia) are due July 1.

The Millikin campus, including the alumni and development office, will be closed all day Monday, May 20, for a technology upgrade.

As a result, you will be unable to access the university’s website, including myMILLIKIN, the alumni directory, online giving and Millikin email accounts on that day.

This one-day shutdown is necessary to allow the information technology department to make an upgrade to Millikin’s computer network system. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for your patience as we upgrade our technology to better serve the Millikin community, including our alumni and friends.

Senior musical theatre majors are spending a week in The Big Apple beginning May 20, meeting with casting directors, agents and other theater professionals. They'd love to end their week by meeting up with MU alums to celebrate – and maybe get some advice. So once again, Scott Rollison ’96 is coordinating a get-together for the students and NYC-area alums:

Thursday, May 23, at 9 p.m.
Hurley's Saloon
232 West 48th Street (between Broadway & 8th)
Second floor lounge/patio
RSVP to Scott at scottrollison@mac.com by May 21.

Thanks to Scott for his efforts on behalf of MU and our students. And to the New York-bound students, break a leg!

Jan Devore

The overwhelming response made by alumni and friends to the news of the June 30 retirement of Jan Devore, alumni relations director, has led to a change of plans. The retirement event for “Jan’s fans” will now be postponed to this fall’s Homecoming, Oct. 4-6, to allow a larger number of individuals to attend in person and wish her well. Watch for the time, location and other details to come your way this summer once plans are finalized.

Paws for a Cause

Pet prints and some pets were on parade May 3 at Blue Connection in downtown Decatur. Art students enrolled in Carriage House Press created woodcut prints for the event, and proceeds from print sales were donated to the Decatur Macon County Animal Shelter.
