Dr. David "Doc" Golden, professor emeritus of theatre and a valued member of the Millikin community from 1984 to 2006, died Oct. 30. Golden was considered to be instrumental in helping to build the theatre and dance department to the superior level of excellence it continues to enjoy today. “David built this department, almost from scratch, when he arrived at MU in the mid-eighties,” says Laura Ledford, dean of the College of Fine Arts. “He was an inspiration to hundreds, if not thousands, of students, colleagues and alumni who live his legacy through their work in the theatre every day.” His family has requested that donations
be sent in his memory to Millikin toward the goal of naming the green room in the planned new MU Center for Theatre and Dance

Millikin is again partnering with the Strategic National Arts Alumni Project (SNAAP) to learn more about how studying the arts has influenced the lives and careers of arts alumni. Reminder emails to encourage their participation in the user-friendly survey are being sent this week to many MU alumni who earned degrees within the College of Fine Arts during the last 20 years. The deadline to complete the survey was recently extended to Dec. 1.
The information gathered will be used to strengthen Millikin’s program and help other arts educators across the country better meet the needs of their students.
