Frank Supinie age 86 of Lawrenceville, IL died Sunday January 16, 2011 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, IL.
Frank was born April 14, 1924 in Moweaqua, IL to John and Mary (Novota) Supinie. He attended Moweaqua Schools and after graduation in 1942 he entered a Flight Training Course and earned his Private Pilots License. Subsequently, he was inducted into the Army Air Corps, where he earned the Rank of First Lieutenant and served during World War II.
After discharge from the service in 1946, he enrolled at Millikin University in Decatur where in 1949 he earned his Bachelor's Degree.
On June 18, 1949 he married Betty Lou Higginbotham. They moved to Lawrenceville and Frank began a 36 year career of teaching Math and Shop, first at Lincoln Junior High and later at Parkview Junior High School. He supplemented his income by building houses in the summer months. He was also employed as a pilot by Golden Rule Insurance for 25 years during which he earned Instrument and Multi-Engine Ratings. He was a member of the American Legion, and the Lawrence County Country Club.
Frank is survived by Betty, his wife of 61 years, daughter Judy of Bonita Springs, FL, daughter Anne Oker of Silver City, NM, son Andy (Lori) Supinie of Wichita, KS, son John of Champaign, IL, four grandchildren: Joe and Charlie Oker, Tim and Julie Supinie, and two step-grandchildren: Amy and Nick Jachino. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
