Stephanie Louise Weyand, 87, of Hoopeston passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Hoopeston on Monday, Sept. 5, 2011.
She was born on Jan. 30, 1924, the daughter of Dr. Frances and Harriet Amy (Naish) Yabsley, in Cissna Park. She married Melvin Arthur Weyand in Danville. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are her children: three daughters, Amy Weyand-Zangl (Norman Zangl) of Burbank, Calif., Sarah Weyand of Fairhaven, Mass., and Emily (Sam) Coyner of Alexandria, Va., and one son, John A. Weyand of Somerville, Mass.
Stephanie is also survived by several nieces and nephews and two special friends, Shirley and Jimmy Davis of Hoopeston.
Stephanie was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Edith Yabsley; and one brother, Frances Yabsley.
Stephanie graduated from Millikin University with a bachelor's degree in mathematics. She substituted teaching school for several years and later worked at Computer Works in Hoopeston. She enjoyed traveling and was very interested in politics.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, at the Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St., Hoopeston, with the Rev. Larry Houseman officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston will follow the Friday service.
