Milton Borens, Jr., 68, of Merritt Island, FL passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2008. He was a retired Educator for Brevard County Public Schools. He taught at Cocoa Beach High School successfully, approximately 25 years, developing a choir called the Sinfonic Chorale Society. Milton pushed them to a performance level that annually rewarded them with gold, silver, and bronze medals in several categories of international music competition including, Rome, Hawaii, Paris, London, Greece, Holland, Mexico and Switzerland. He completed his 35 years of teaching at Gardendale Elementary Magnet School where he was lead teacher for the School of Performing Arts.
Milton also had a strong passion for church music. Milton was commuting to Orlando to serve as music director with his sister, Janice Carter at Carter Tabernacle C.M.E. Church. He organized their Mass Choir some years earlier during his father's Pastorate; the late Rev. Milton H. Borens, Sr.
Together they directed an annual concert called the "Alleluia" for 24 years. Milton was an excellent music teacher, he was able to motivate students and church choirs to perform to perfection.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Ruby Williams Borens ; two children, Janita Wiggins (Mark) and Milton H. Borens , II (Kevia); mother, Mable W. Borens ; brothers, Rev. John J. Borens , Jonathan Borens (Sylvia); sister, Janice Carter (Lemuel); favorite aunt, Beulah Douglas; three grandchildren.
