Clinton C. Hollis, 91, of Rochester, Minnesota, formerly of Petersburg, Illinois, passed away October 4, 2012, at his residence at The Kahler Grand Hotel. He was born April 4, 1921, in Oakford, Illinois, to Edgar and Nettie Lounsberry Hollis. He married Joan Swan Hollis March 17, 1946, in Petersburg, Illinois.
Mr. Hollis was a United States Army World War II veteran having served in Iran for three years, was a fifty-year member of the Clinton Masonic Lodge #19 AF&FM, and is a member of Central United Presbyterian Church in Petersburg, Illinois. At Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, the Joan and Clinton Hollis Rehearsal-Classroom in the university's school of music was named in his and his wife's honor.
Mr. Hollis was formerly employed in Petersburg, Illinois, at C.&I.M. Railroad, the Water Department, and Seiling-Mitchell, as well as Pontiac's General Motors Parts Division in Springfield, Illinois. During his twenty-five year career with General Motors, he was the recipient of many awards for his sales and service records.
He is survived by his wife, Joan, of 66 years; son, Dr. Kimm Hollis, of Madison, Indiana; four sisters: Marguerite Sutton of Peoria, Illinois; Mary Jane Smith of Petersburg, Illinois; Carla (Michael) Rebbe of Springfield, Illinois; and Joyce Ann Kellogg of Ottawa, Illinois; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenneth.
