Julie Ann Morthland Meredith, 54, of Austin, TX, formerly of Decatur, IL and Springfield, IL , passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2013.
Julie was born on January 28, 1958 in Decatur, IL to Barbara and Elmore Morthland. She was a graduate of St. Teresa High School and later attended Sangamon State and Millikin University. Julie began her career in January of 1982 with the Illinois State Police Division of Forensic Sciences. She later worked in the Fiscal Management Bureau where she was promoted to Account Supervisor. She retired in 2004. In 2008, Julie relocated to Austin, TX where she later took a part-time position with the State of Texas Banking Division.
Julie was blessed with two children, Lisa Fehr and Scott Emmerling, who were her pride and joy. She was married to the love of her life, Dennis Meredith, in 1997.
Julie was a good soul, the peacemaker of her family, and she truly touched the lives of all who knew and loved her. She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. She loved working her word puzzles and reading her "bookies". Julie was a music lover, and particularly enjoyed the live music scene in Austin, TX.
Julie is survived by her daughter Lisa and son-in-law Darrin Fehr of Fairbanks, AK, son Scott Emmerling of Springfield, IL, step-daughter Lindsay Meredith of St. Petersburg, FL, sister Jenny York of Helena, MT, sister Laurie (Mike) Clark of Austin, TX, brother Jason Morthland (Jennifer), of Aurora, IL, and 7 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Tupper, and her husband Dennis.
