MATTOON — Rev. Pamela Jean Knudsen, 58, previously from Mattoon, now residing in Columbia, South Carolina, passed away unexpectedly at 1:28 p.m. on May 5, 2013, in Hopkins, South Carolina.
The funeral service honoring her life will begin at 1:00p.m. Friday, May 10, 2013 at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL. Pastor Steve Hohm will be officiating. Interment will take place in Bethel Cemetery, rural Mattoon, IL.
Rev. Knudsen was born on October 5, 1954, the daughter of Charles and Maxine (Fetters) VanMeter. She married Leonard Kerr Knudsen on December 24, 1983 in Tarrant County, Texas. He preceded her in death.
Pamela is survived by her mother, Maxine VanMeter of Mattoon, IL; her two children: Michael O’Dell of Eureka, CA; Patricia Reinman and her husband, Brandon, of Summerville, SC; one brother, David VanMeter and his wife, Debbie, of Mattoon, IL; and one sister, Teresa Turner and her husband, David, of Sumter, SC.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles, and her husband, Leonard, and one son, Jeff Knudsen.
Rev. Knudsen earned her Master’s Degree, and enjoyed working as a Representative for Blue Cross & Blue Shield. She recently received her minister’s license and loved working at Providence Hospital ministering to patients. One of her favorite quotes was “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain” and she lived her life to the fullest, she will be greatly missed.
