Anthony “Tony” J. Innis, 86, of LaSalle, passed away July 4, 2013 at LaSalle Veteran’s Home.
Mr. Innis was born on November 20, 1926 in North Bergen, NJ to Peter and Mary Ellen (McBride) Innis. He married Helen Doyle Ohse on December 29, 1998 in Peoria. He graduated from Millikin University with a degree in Education and later received his master degree in Education from the University of Illinois. Tony served in the Navy during WWII as a Seabee in Guam. He retired from L-P High School as a history teacher, driver’s education teacher, football coach, and track coach for many years. He was a member of the Stock Club and the Illinois Teachers Union. He enjoyed camping, horse racing, sports, dancing, and going to casinos.
Tony is survived by his wife, Helen Innis of St. Charles; 10 children which he had with Kathleen Milligan Innis; daughters, Barbara Troxel of Gresham, Oregon, Sally (Charles) Jalbrzikowski of Zanesville, Ohio, Susan (Jim) Kubera of Oglesby, Tina (David) Bruce of LaSalle, Laurie Innis of Ladd, and Katherine Innis of Ladd; sons, Michael Innis of Washington, DC, Paul (Gretchen) Innis of LaSalle, and Patrick Innis, Arcata, California; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; one brother, William (Arlene) Innis of Secaucus, New Jersey.
He was preceded in death by one son, Anthony Innis; two brothers, Peter and Thomas Innis.
