Judi Gibbons, 72, of Decatur, IL passed away at 9:16 p.m. (Nov. 25, 2013) at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Judi was born on April 5, 1941 the daughter of Jack W. and Ethel E. (Keyes) Gibbons. Judi was a member of First United Methodist Church, Decatur. She received her Bachelor’s of Education from Millikin University in 1966 and began teaching at Roosevelt Middle School. She obtained her Masters Degree with emphasis on Guidance and Counseling at the University of Illinois, Champaign. Her last position with the Decatur Public School District was as a Langauge Arts/Social Studies Resource Specialist. After retiring she was a supervisor of Illinois State University Student Teachers. She was PTA life member. Judi was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma-Beta Sigma Chapter and Phi Delta Kappa. Other organizations include DEA, IEA, NEA, DARTA and AAUW.
Surviving is her sister: Nancy J. Livingston of Catlin, IL; nephews: Rod (DeAnna) Livingston of Catlin, IL, Trey (Kathy) Gibbons of La Grange, IL, and Josh (Marcia) Gibbons of Markeson, WI; nieces: Becki Butner of Catlin, IL, and Renee (Melvin) Mingee of Catlin, IL; great-nephews: Beau Butner of Catlin, IL, Brad Gibbons of La Grange, IL, and Andrew Gibbons of Markeson, WI; great-nieces: Melissa (Robb) Goad of Troy, OH and Hannah Gibbons of Markeson, WI; great-great-nieces: Peyton Davis and Audrey Goad of Troy, OH; very special friend: J. William Tankersley of Tucson, AZ
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother.
