Shirley F. Lowman, 91, Decatur, passed away Monday, July 16, 2012.
There will be no services. Remains were willed to science through the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois.
Shirley was born Jan. 17, 1921, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. H.L. Freidinger. She graduated from Decatur High School in 1939 and Millikin University in 1944. During college, she worked at the Herald & Review.
After graduation, she worked as a civilian with the Army Signal Corps and then volunteered with the American Red Cross and was stationed in Manila, Philippines and Japan. While in Manila, she met her husband John J. Lowman. Following the war, the Lowmans lived in New York City and Florida before moving to Decatur. She loved traveling and playing bridge.
Surviving are her son, John Lowman Jr.; three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Lucienne.
