Thomas (Tom) J. Naughton of Austin, Texas, formerly of Decatur, passed away December 13, 2012 after a 16 month battle with cancer.
Tom was born December 20, 1931 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Thomas and Eileen (Markwell) Naughton. Tom graduated from St. Teresa High School in 1949 and served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He attended American International College, graduating from Millikin University in 1957 with both a BA and BS Degree.
He started his business career with IBM upon graduation, subsequently forming a partnership and becoming President of Tri-County Management Recruiters of Detroit, MI, and later developing Manpower, Inc. and All State Services of Central Illinois.
Tom served on the Board of Macon County Rehabilitation Facility for many years and served as President of the Board for 10 of those years.
After his retirement he volunteered with Meals on Wheels and Books for the Blind in Austin, Texas.
He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Austin, and was a former member of St. James Catholic Church in Decatur, Illinois. Tom married Shirley Irene Scott in 1952 and had three daughters.
He is survived by his wife Shirley, his daughters, Pam Leder (Charles) of Denver, CO, Eve Stapleton (Carlos Mendoza) of Lexington, KY, Leslie Calnon (Mark) of Doylestown, PA; Grandchildren, Melissa Leder, Allison Bejarano (Anthony), Megan Leder, Tyler Calnon, Katie Calnon, his brother, Ronald E. Naughton (Shirley J.). of Springfield, IL, his brother-in-law, Gene A. Scott (Beverley) of Indianapolis, IN and their families.
