Rollin R. "Saxy" Smith, 90, of Lake Placid, Fla. died Jan. 12, 2013. He was born in Chicago, a veteran of W.W. II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Rollin was a 1949 graduate of Millikin. He was a former editor of the Lovington Reporter before moving to Springfield, Ill., to serve as an aide to the Governor of Illinois. He married Susan in Avon Park, Fla., in 1994, and they settled in Lake Placid in 2002. He was a member of Highlands County Concert Band, Highlandaires and the Star Dusters. He is survived by his wife, daughters: Linda Moody and Cindy Meier, son: Ken Mitchell Smith, sisters: Louise Wickline and Eileen Ernst, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
