Marian Fay Michel, 82, of Dallas, Texas, and formerly of Anna, died peacefully in her home at 3:25 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, with the help of Grace Hospice of Dallas. Marian was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gherig’s disease) Dec. 21, 2012, after being treated over the previous several months for atrial fibrillation. She elected not to go through possible surgical interventions, taking a more natural course and was able to carry on normal activities, including playing her piano, until a few days before her death.

Marian is survived by her husband, Don Michel and by a daughter, Jane McGarry (Kevin) and a son David Michel (Deborah), as well as two grandsons, John David Michel and Michael Gage McGarry, and a granddaughter Elizabeth Grace Michel, all of Dallas, Texas, and by a sister, Lynn Grace LeFevre (Gary) of Anna. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bishop and Grace Burd, and by a brother Phillip Burd.
