Flora, Ill.

Lenore Wells, age 83, of Flora, IL died at 10:35 AM on Friday, June 1, 2012 at Good Samaritan RHC in Mt. Vernon, IL.

She was born January 14, 1929 in Decatur, IL to Joseph A. Scherer and Ellis A. (Kuhle) Scherer. She married Roger L. Wells on April 8, 1949 in Decatur, IL. He later preceded her in death on July 18, 2001. Lenore, affectionately known as “Oma”, was an excellent cook, very supportive of her husband, and was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was a graduate of St. Teresa High School and attended Millikin University in Decatur, IL where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi. She was also a member of Flora Garden Club, Bridge Club, and was a devout Catholic and involved member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Flora.

She is survived by 3 sons: Roger (Debbie) Wells Jr. of Cape Girardeau, MO, Randy Wells of Flora, Kent (Susan) Wells of Westminster, CO; 2 daughters: Stephanie vonAlmen of Indianapolis, IN, Stacy Wells of Chicago, IL; sister-in-law: Marilyn Mylius of Flora; along with 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. The family would like to also recognize Jane Corry and Paula Fatheree, who are two people who played special roles in Lenore’s life and that of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother (Robert J. Scherer).
