Each year, hundreds of alumni, parents, and friends volunteer their time to Millikin to help out in a variety of ways. Your help is welcome, too! Below are some sample volunteer opportunities, and please feel free to call us toll free at 1-877-JMU-ALUM (568-2586) should you have specific questions (locally, dial 424-6383).

MATER program (admissions)- opportunities exist for representing Millikin at college fairs, hosting receptions for prospective students, calling admitted students from your geographic area, and identifying qualified potential students. Training materials provided.

CAREER CONNECTIONS - your name would be a part of a database that can be used by current students and alumni to assist them in career planning, identifying employment and internship opportunties in geographic regions, establishing graduate school contacts, etc.

BOARD MEMBERSHIP

• Alumni Association - on-campus meetings (five per year), 18 alumni appointed to serve rotating three year terms, assist with campus events, serve on committees including communication, homecoming/special events, social, fund development, student/alumni relations.
• Chicago Board of Governors - meets approximately quarterly, plans activities/projects for Chicago area .
• Indianapolis Steering Committee - meets 3 times per year to plan activities/projects for Indianapolis area alumni and friends.alumni and friends.
• St. Louis Steering Committee - meets 3 times per year to plan activities/projects for St. Louis/Metro East area alumni and friends.
• Parents Association Board - two meetings per year (fall and spring) - maintains open communication among parents, faculty, and university administration, supports special projects at the university through various fund-raising efforts.

Assisting with special events in your area - opportunties to coordinate periodic events in areas without formal clubs or to represent the university at special events, such as college presidential inaugurations.

Assisting with special events on campus - volunteers to assist with homecoming, fall family weekend, commencement, summerview, etc.

Class agent for fund-raising - sending letters to your peers encouraging their involvement in Millikin's annual fund drive.

Homecoming reunion committees - planners for class activities at 5 year incremental reunions and planners for special affinity group reunions

Media Monitor - send clippings about stories involving Millikin alumni and students. Assisting us in getting the Millikin story out in your area through your media connections.

Clerical support on campus - assisting with mailings, phone calling, special projects that come up in the Office of Alumni and Development.
