Millikin Cheerleading Tryout Information
The Millikin Cheer and Dance teams typically have tryouts in the Spring - late April or early May.
The Cheerleading tryouts will require demonstration of skills – tumbling (not required), jumps (herkie, front hurdler…), a short “cheer dance”, sideline cheers and stunting technique. Stunting groups will be assigned at the clinic.
The Dance Team tryouts will consist of demonstration of skills – turns (double required), axle, toe touch, and leaps. A short routine will also be taught which incorporates 3 styles; jazz, hip hop and pom. Routines will be evaluated according to technique, showmanship, and memory.
The dance team and cheerleaders participate in all home football games, most of the home boys basketball games and some girls basketball games. The dance team and cheerleaders also participate in some fund-raising and special appearances.
We encourage all males and females interested in these teams to tryout.
