phone: 217.420.6626 email: emitchell@millikin.edu Former professional player Enzley Mitchell joined the Big Blue as the new assistant men’s basketball coach in September 2007. Mitchell has considerable basketball background including experience at NCAA Divisions I and III, NAIA and in the professional arena. At Millikin, Mitchell will focus on developing the Big Blue’s post game and recruiting new athletes. Mitchell began his professional playing and coaching career in Europe. As a player he played and toured on teams in Spain, France and the U.K. During the 1994-95 season Mitchell averaged 23 ppg, 11ppg and 5bpg playing for the Cardiff Clippers in the English National League. In 2001 he participated in the World-basketball Summer Pro league in Aranda De Duero, Spain. As a college athlete and four-year letter winner at Spring Arbor University (Mich.), Mitchell was a two-time All-WHAC first-team selection and the league’s Defensive Player of the Year in 1993-94. He still holds the Spring Arbor record for career blocked shots (227) after leading the team in that category for three seasons. He is also No. 11 in Spring Arbor career rebounding (618) and scored nearly 1,000 points in his career. As a senior Mitchell helped lead the cougars to a 21-13 record averaging 18 points and 10 rebounds per game. Mitchell earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Spring Arbor in 1994. He received a master’s degree Recreation and Sport Management from Indiana State University in 2005. |
