Littrell's 2006-07 squad finished with a 9-15 mark, 2-12 in the CCIW after compiling a 10-15, 3-11 mark during 2005-06. Under his leadership, the Big Blue has recorded a 122-153 record. Littrell's best season of his career came during the 1998-99 season when the Big Blue finished 17-8. Prior to being named head coach, he served 18 years as an assistant coach for the Big Blue. He became a part-time assistant basketball coach at his alma mater in 1978 while teaching in the Mt. Zion school system. Littrell became a full-time staff member in 1981 and added the job of assistant football coach to his basketball duties. A standout basketball player for the Big Blue, Littrell ranked 29th on Millikin's career scoring list with 1,071 points at the conclusion of his coaching career. He also held a spot in Millikin's career rebounding list (636) after his graduation. A two-year captain, he earned second-team All-CCIW and Big Blue Most Valuable Player honors his final two seasons and garnered college division All-State Special Mention as a senior. Littrell also lettered four times in baseball and once held Millikin season baseball records for most career games and most runs batted in. Littrell earned a master's degree from Sangamon State in 1979. He is a member of Millikin's Exercise Science faculty and was a 1988 inductee into the Millikin Athletic Hall of Fame. A Decatur native, Littrell is a graduate of Decatur's MacArthur High School where he was team captain and an All-Conference selection in both basketball and baseball. He earned Honorable Mention All-State honors in basketball.
