The
Millikin men's and women's golf teams use some of the best public
golf courses in the United States right here in Decatur.
The Big Blue plays and practices at three of the city's public
courses, Red Tail Run Golf Club, Hickory
Point Golf Course and Scovill
Park Golf Course.
Red Tail Run Golf Club was designed by legendary hall of fame player Raymond Floyd and opened for play in 2006. This signature course is carved from the native prairie lands, featuring large undulating greens, wide rolling fairways and native grasses. Located on Decatur's south side, Red Tail Run Golf Club is designed for players of all skill levels - from the novice to the champion. From five tee locations providing multiple angles to the fairway, Red Tail Run brings you a driving range with double tees, golf academy programming and the First Tee Learning Center. Red Tail Run was the host site of the 2007 Illinois Women's State Amateur Golf Tournament and the 2007 Women's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Championships.
Hickory Point is located in Forsyth, Ill., just five miles from campus. It provides
a 6,200-yard par 72 course. Hickory Point is a course for both the beginner and
the competitive golfer. Its flat, wide fairways are perfect for learning, while
long distances and the ever-present wind provide challenges for more experienced
golfers. Hickory Point hosts the annual LPGA Ladies Futures Mini Tour as well as many
high school and college tournaments. It has a lighted driving range and hosts
a variety of golf clinics for children and adults.
Scovill is located just two miles from the Millikin campus and provides a 5,782-yard, par 71 course. Scovill is often referred to as the "shot-maker's course" because of its narrow, manicured fairways that are hilly and tree-lined. Its greens are undulating and are surrounded by mounds.
