Carol and Dave Rayhill (Ally James’ grandparents) opened their home and backyard to host the second annual bonfire for the team and their families. Roasting hotdogs, making s’mores, and sharing in lots of homemade desserts highlighted the party, which happened to also be a celebration of Grandma Rayhill’s birthday (29 again right Carol?). One of the traditions shared this year at the bonfire, honored the heritage of sophomore Rachel Almond (from the Isle of Wight in England). Guy Fawkes Night, also known as Bonfire Night, is a national tradition in England celebrated on November 5. At the conclusion of practice on Friday, the team taste-tested Yorkshire Parkin and Rachel shared the following poem: Remember, remember, the fifth of November, Gunpowder Treason and Plot, I see no reason why gunpowder treason should ever be forgot.
