Charlie King joined the Big Blue staff in May 2007 after a two-year stay as the men’s and women’s assistant coach at St. Cloud State University (Minn.) where his athletes won five All-America honors and set nine school records. During the 2006-07 season, both the men’s and women’s teams were ranked in the nation’s Top 5. Since 2006, he has also served as a counselor/coach at the Stanford International Swim Camp.

Prior to his tenure at St. Cloud State, King was the head women’s swim coach at Augsburg College (Minn.) from 2003-05. Before that, he served as the co-head coach for the Monticello Swim Club in Monticello, Minn. (1998-04). From 2000-03 King was the women’s assistant coach at Monticello (Minn.) High School and added the men’s assistant position in 2001-02. King had additional experience as the men’s head coach at St. Cloud Apollo High School (1998-00) and was a volunteer assistant at St. Cloud State for one season from 1998-99.

King earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education (Social Sciences) from St. Cloud State University in 2000. He is currently defending his thesis to complete his Master of Science in Sports Management.
