The No. 6 ranked Millikin traveled to Carthage on Feb. 22, wrapping up a 72-60 win and its fifth CCIW title in the last six years. Millikin has now won or shared 10 of the last 12 league titles, and captured 11 since the CCIW began recognizing a women's champion in 1987. With the win, Millikin improves to 23-2 overall and finishes the CCIW regular season with a 13-1 record. The Big Blue shares this year's title with No. 18 ranked Wheaton. The Thunder beat North Central in overtime on Feb. 22, 70-64, to improve to 22-3, 13-1.
According to the fifth criteria in conference's tiebreaker procedure (record in last nine games), the Big Blue has home-court advantage for this weekend's CCIW Tournament. The tournament's winner will receive the league's automatic NCAA playoff spot. CCIW Tournament action begins on Friday night with games at 6 and 8 p.m. in Decatur. The title game will be played on Saturday at 2 p.m. Millikin locks up the No. 1 seed followed by Wheaton, Illinois Wesleyan and Elmhurst.
With Elmhurst in the No. 4 spot, all eight CCIW schools have now earned at least one berth in the conference tournament's three-year existence.

With the win, Millikin receives the CCIW's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA will announce its field for the 2004-05 Championships on Sunday night at 9 p.m.
