Day 30 (Tuesday, July 26th)
Today, I woke up at 9 because I didn’t have to be at the lab until 10am. While I was getting ready, I was doing my make-up in the large mirror in the hallway when a girl walks by and said to me, “Can I paint your eyes?” And I replied, “Uhhh, what?” She explained that she was a make-up artist but she had never done make-up on American eyes, and she wondered if she could do my eye make-up! I said sure! She used my eyeliner and gave me big cat eyes! They were really pretty, but I felt a little goofy walking into lab with all of this eye make-up on. Things like this make me feel really nice, though. All of the people here are really kind just like that girl and it is really awesome!
In lab, I was typing and a lizard ran right above my keyboard. I screamed, but Eva came in and was like, “Just a lizard, it’s okay.” She is so sweet! After I worked for a little bit in the lab, I took a break for lunch and got a chicken sandwich from the breakfast place. These chicken sandwiches really are the best chicken sandwiches I have ever had in my life. No Joke. I went back to the lab and Eva and I discussed some of my lab results. She is really being very helpful in making sure that I understand everything that is going on with my project.
After Lab was over, Heather and I relaxed and watched three more episodes of The Challenge. In the middle of this, the lights went out. To make a long story short, there was a trip in the breaker box, but another one of the girls who lives on our floor fixed it. It was really funny when the girl in the shower yelped when the lights all went out, though! For dinner, we met Paris, Vivian and Paris’s friend Ruby for lunchbox! Ruby seems really nice. She told me that she had an interview Saturday for a job working for an airline as a customer service representative. After lunchbox, Heather grabbed some bread from the bakery and I grabbed my tea from Mr. Wish, and I had the normal amount of sugar again, thank goodness. Mr. Wish is also having a BOGO right now, so I got Heather a small black tea for free!
Tonight I also got to Skype with my mom and sister. It was really nice, but I didn’t realize how much I missed them until I Skyped with them for an hour and a half! Wow! I miss them so much, but I am looking forward to this weekend in Hualian. It seems like Grass and Tiffany have some great things planned for us!
